Comments : Just found your site and it brought back such wonderful memories of owning a maremma. Our 'tomba' was with us for 12 wonderful, fun filled years. He was strong, funny, protective and loving. Everything that good maremmas are. My husband is of Italian decent, and we fell in love with them in Italy originally and then looked for a puppy when we returned to Australia.
Tomba was loved by all our neighbours, though his warning bark that someone was at the door did not always please them all the time. When we moved from Melb to the country he absolutely loved it.
Unfortunately he lost his battle with a tendon problem at age 12 - after a big operation that was not successful.
We miss him. I would encourage anyone with time and love to enjoy the companionship of a maremma as we did.
I am still not over him and don't know if I could ever have another dog, but if I do it will be another maremma.
Thank you for a lovely site. It is amazing how some similar traits are demonstrated through photographs. I will keep dropping in on the site to see future litters.

Comments : I have just bought a purebred Maremma puppy for a family guardian dog. We live in the city on a large block. We chose this dog because my son started trying to talk to him on the farm where we got him from. My son is 2 and Autistic. Our puppy is so gentle with our son. Whenever he wants pats he nudges my son with his nose then lays in front of him.
I would love to talk about these beautiful dogs.
