Comments : I have a border cooler x maremma named Lilly and she is such a big gentle dog, she is around 8 now and is very protective of me and my 14 year old foxy x as i have had her since i was about 9 I could not imgage my life without her! She is a big softy as we hot her given to us as a sheep dog she was a bit confused weather to chase the sheep or be their friend! Haha she was great with my ferrets, cat, Guinea pigs and also used to love sleeping with my pet sheep Sunday and giving him kisses. Best dogs!

She looks after every thing that is here chooks,goats and our old dog jessie. I would highly recomend the breed for a companion dog

Im on a farm in Maitland area NSW and have a maremma x border collie whose now getting on , but has been the most humorous dog ive ever had.
Im hoping to come across an adult purebred maremma who is looking to be rehomed , not too far from me ,and I understand sometimes studs need to re home retired breeders . Does anyone know a good site where i can maybe find an older dog to join my farm family ?
It would be a home for life , especially given im looking for more adult aged dog.
Im on a pension so it would need to be cheap or free as i cant justify an initial outlay for purchase ( Ive factored ongoing costs and keep is no problem ) .

Comments : I have a beautiful Maremma named Tessa, she was a rescue dog and was abused for the first 12 months. She is now 2.5 and a lovely girl, we live in suburbia but she is well exercised and is very protective of me as I have a disability and except when she gets really excited which is my own fault because I spoil her and stir her up before park time, she is the most gentle girl and I sometimes think of the things I would like to do to her previous owner as she still cowers when you go to pat her which is now habit.

Comments : I have a Maremma puppy named Bella Jacuzi. She is 11 months old. I bought her when she was 8 weeks old. I have always admired Maremma sheepdogs. I did a lot of research before I bought Bella. So may web sites recommend that the Maremma should not be bought as a pet. We live in the country and have a couple of acres with woods behind our house. We have 3 golden retrievers and 2 macaw parrots in addition to Bella. Bella gets along with all the dogs and birds. She is a very good protector having a very loud bellowing bark when someone comes to the door. I love her very much.

Comments : I love that you honour and champion this breed of dog. The Mareema is very special and sometimes misunderstood because they are hardwired to give and protect. Very interested in a puppy as a working dog to protect chickens on acreage.
